Throughout the games, Electronic Super Joy contains a variety of different gimmicks that alter the experience in certain levels. All known gimmicks are listed in the table below.

Icon / Example Name Description Note
Ground An opaque block that holds you up.
Sticky Ground What is that? The player's movement is slowed upon contact
Sticky Wall What is that? The player is able to scale the surface.
The player sticks to the surface and slowly drops.
Slippery Ground Watch your step. The player slides around upon contact.
Star The player is launched into the air indefinitely.
Arrow The player is launched upward once.
This gimmick disappears after it has been usde.
Self-Destruct Platform Upon contact, the platform will self-destruct within a time limit.
Self-Defensive Platform Upon contact, the platform will summon spikes after a time limit.
Self-Offensive Platform Upon contact, the platform will self-destruct within a time limit.
After disappearing, two missiles will be fired.
Icon Name Function
Double Jump Grants the player the Double Jump ability.
Air Sword Gives the player the Air Sword, which replaces the Stomp ability with a horizontal slash.
